This publication is a treasure trove of information on the people who lived in Simsbury, Connecticut in 1930. As a genealogist from this area I realize how wonderful this book is for researchers. If you have relatives or ancestors who resided in Simsbury at that time, this publication is a must. I wish all the towns could have a resource like this one. Great job Jean!!

Absolutely by far the best book I have ever read on depression. After years of counseling and therapy, nothing came close to the actual reasons for my depression. It hit the nail on the head in describing the way I think, and why it will start the snowball effect of depression! Bravo. I am on my way to good mental health after 48 years.

I am bias because I know the author personally. She lives her beliefs and that makes all the difference in my opinion. This book offers a real life experiential alternative to medication for depression or chemical imbalances. It is written in a down to earth, conversational style which makes it a quick and enjoyable read. For anyone exploring their own faith and what Christ can do for you in an immensely important area in your life, I can recommend this book.

Sam Ruffalo has taken us back on a journey in time, when valour, honor, dignity and hard work defined what it meant to be part of North America. He speaks of struggle, but also of hope which was ever present. Success was awarded to him because of his patience and perseverance. It is a touching story of family love and loss and of life's trials and triumphs.
Sam's inspiring book will serve the next generation with an understanding of our achievement of freedom and democracy, the importance of strong family values, and the committment to never give up. I was moved to tears of joy and sadness by Sam's motivating book. I am grateful that Sam Ruffalo has shared his story.

Richard Bermack's excellent work is more timely and compelling than ever, now that we have lost almost all our veterans of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade. We miss them so! At least we can continue to be inspired by their legacy of activism in Bermack's book!

I picked up this book because I see so much of this furniture in antique shops and I wanted to be able to distinguish it from other periods. Although I've never been particularly interested in this period, I found this book to be quite interesting.

The book explains the history of the furniture and its development, with lots of anecdotes along the way. Through the many color photographs, you will learn how to spot specific types of furniture and get a better idea of which company might have manufactured a specific piece.

One of the topics addressed early in the book is the use of veneer. The authors explain that 'veneer' doesn't have to be a dirty word and that even the ancient Egyptians used a form of it. There is a section devoted to the repairing and replacing of veneer. They also provide detailed explanations for such terms as 'burl' and 'pollarding.' They explain the differences between better- and lesser-quality ('borax') furniture, and a pricelist (1999 values) is also included.
