This short, inspirational book will reveal the Scriptural accounts of the blues and how to break through to the lighter side
of life. You don't have to live on anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds for the rest of your life. This book will show you
how to identify the roots of despair in your life and give you a plan of action to break through. It contains stories of people
who have been healed in an instant alongside stories of people who walked with Jesus through a longer process of healing.
There is no one answer or magic faith pill to swallow in this book. Readers say that this gave them the insights they needed
to develop their own healing plan of action - through prayer and faith in action. Some readers state that they have been healed
instantly - as their faith reached up and grabbed the healing hand of God and they started dancing in the fullness of joy.
Be blessed as you read.

I wrote this book as a training manual for therapists who are interested in learning an adaptation of cognitive therapy, for
work with depressed young people. I'd be happy to hear from any readers, as I'm intending to do another book, expanding the
techniques presented and using more family interventions. Any thoughts are welcomed.

A Fantastic Look Back at New Hampshire CCC camps

This book is a wonderful read and is told through many first hand accounts of men who actually served in the Civilian Conservation
Corps camps of New Hampshire. It is amazing to learn of all of their work, their (mostly) young ages, how little they were
paid, accidents encountered, and feats of work achieved.
I could not put this book down. So many of the CCC men took their para-military training and signed up for World War II, becoming leaders in that next segment of American History.
This book is well worth having on your book shelf, that is, after you have read it!

Very few of the adults pictured in this book smile with their teeth showing. You can see why by the handful who do: the teeth
tell you better than anything else that this is Kansas in the 1930s and dental care is an unaffordable luxury.
The earliest photographs in this book were created on behalf of the Farm Security Administration, a New Deal project which (among many other things) attempted to educate the public about rural poverty. These photographs show closed banks, empty expressions, and farms turned to dust -- the people here did not know what had hit them or when the Depression would be over. The late 1930s photographs are not entirely bleak: they document 4-H fairs and the FSA's improvement efforts. The photographs from World War II show Kansas at work: at Fort Riley, on trains, in wartime industrial jobs. By the time the post-war photographs were taken (for Standard Oil of New Jersey), Kansas had recovered to become a different, and more modern, state.
Oddly for a photography book, the text commentary is so outstanding that it almost outshines the pictures. The author, Donald Worster, gives the reader an interesting history of Kansas as it approached the "Dirty Thirties," when the dust turned day to night, no one had a spare dime and the state started to empty. Worster describes the state during World War II, when young men went to war and everyone else went back to work. Although the state slowly recovered, the Depression, the war and their aftermath scarred all Kansans who lived through them. Worster's erudite and highly readable commentary creates in one's mind a separate, unique set of pictures that enhances the experience of viewing the actual photographs.

Cammille Marie Wimberly is everyman in the form of a lanky Oklahoma girl. Her hopes, dreams, quirks and fears are the same
we all have. Although the book starts in Depression Era, the life themes are timeless. After you finish the book, you've grown
up with Cammy and realized she's always been a part of you. That's why Cammy Two is a must!

Excellent book about a common mental health problem

This is a great picture book! It's the first in a series for kids by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. The story
is highly relevant to children living with a parent or other family member who has depression. Alex is a young boy who's father
has depression. One of his friends confides that her mother also had depression. As the story goes on, Alex learns the answers
to common questions kids have in this type of a family situation - questions like: "why does my dad act this way?", "will
my parent get better?", and "is it my fault?" He also learns that he can't catch it like a cold. The book is a useful tool
for adults who want to talk to kids about what's going on at home or in a family where someone has depression. I really like
the illustrations too; they helped make everything easier to understand. It was refreshing to see a book that reflected a
lot of diversity too. This is an excellent resource for parents, teachers and other mental health professionals.

Psychology experts Jeanne C. Watson, Rhonda N. Goldman, and Leslie S. Greenberg combine their wisdom in Case Studies in Emotion-Focused
Treatment of Depression: A Comparison of Good and Poor Outcome is an inside look at how emotion-focused therapy, or EFT, can
be used in the treatment of depression. Six in-depth case studies are featured - three with a good outcome, and three with
a poor outcome. Session-by-session descriptions of the therapy process, including sample dialogue transcripts and post-session
evaluations, allow for the reader to fully analyze instances in which EFT succeeded or failed. An excellent resource especially
recommended for professionals in the field.

This is a great book for 4-5th graders. The story deals with prejudice and bullying in an unusual setting. Rural New Hampshire
during the Great Depression provides the backdrop for young girls encountering discrimination among French-Canadian-American
and other local families. The theme of overcoming shyness and personal assertiveness adds to the appeal for young women approaching
adolescence. The illustrations are excellent and the cover colorful and indicing. I highly recommend this book for this
age group.

The book contains several stories about Burton and his twin brother growing up in Southern Arkansas during the depression.
Despite this time frame, the book is a great read for all ages. It has warm wit and humor and very inspiring messages.
