I received a copy of this book when I needed it most. It not only helped me understand the turbulence in my teenagers' lives , it acknowledged the heartache and stress of parents like me during these years.

A practical book that educated me, opened my eyes and encouraged my heart.
It should be required reading for all parents. I highly recommend this book.

This book has been the only real connection between me and the meaning of my feelings. I finally can understand what makes me do the things I do, and feel the way I feel. In reading this book, I was able to bring out things that have happened to me, that I was never able to explain. Thank goodness for the honesty in the author.

About 3 years ago I purchased an e-book from Jeff, and never looked back. His ideas turned me into a successful trader. If you have any desire to get involved in forex trading you must read his book and pay attention to his money management ideas.

I could write several paragraphs describing how I feel about his writings. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Good luck with your trading HH

I had read several books on the subject before seeing Jeff Glenellis' book. And I had spent the better part of a year trying to trade Foreign Currency Exchange (Forex) unsuccessully. There are many successful traders using any number of trading methods, and many of them offer books about it. But none ever offered to TEACH me their methods (even some to whom I paid significant sums of money) the way Jeff G does in his book.

I bought this book in an earlier revision, about a year ago (before it was available thru Amazon). So I have already become proftable using what he teaches in it. Jeff G presents several very concise trading methods in easy-to-follow language. He is also the only one I ever saw present an actual profit progression from compounding, where he has actually worked the plan and compounded a small initial startup into a significant sum of money.

But more important than any method, he teaches a great deal on how to properly manage the money in your trading account, to protect your capital. If you start with $5000 in your forex broker account, yet you wipe it all away in a few losses, you lose. But with a good method, the right money management of your trading capital, some consistent work and a little old-fashioned discipline, you can start with as little as $200, and compound it all the way to $1M in less than three years -- while drawing out an ever-increasing income every week along the way.

Further, many people "bait" you with an intial book, but once you buy it, then they start to bombard you with more stuff they have to sell, that has the "deluxe" or "really great" information. And once you buy that, they then proceed to offer you the "super-secret" stuff, and so on. Or they "bait" you with the inexpensive book, and then want to sell you thousands of dollars worth of "mentoring" (that turns out to be from people who don't even do what they're teaching). Jeff G has done none of that. Since I bought his book originally he has NEVER offered to sell me ANYTHING else extra. All the goods are in the one book.

And as to "mentoring", for those who are interested, there is a one-time membership fee (of less than $100) to join his on-going service. Anyone can talk to him personally in the members-only room on most trading days. He actually does what he is teaching, does it most every day, and any member who wishes may join him there.

And even then, he has never asked for even one penny for anything else extra.

For those who wish to learn to trade the Forex successfully, I've never seen anything better at any price.

I agree with Mark Rutherford - if you don't recognize this milieu and these characters, you are not an American Jewish male of eastern European extraction born in a large U.S. city between 1925 and 1955. Breathtakingly funny, and a kick in the kishkes, too.

This novel does everything that a novel can do--Joycean in its range--while remaining utterly realistic and so funny you could die. Best to read on a solitary vacation--if not you will alienate anyone you are with by insisting on reading aloud longer and longer passages.

It is truly inspirational to read, from a young girl, lessons that I didn't learn until my 30's and insights I had yet to learn until reading this book. It is very easy to focus on what we don't have or what could be. Sometimes lessons aren't learned until a tragedy is stuck in front of us. Estar gives inspiration & hope on how to deal with unforeseen events. She is amazing.

Though this might sound like a book primarily of interest to critically ill children and their families, anyone could use this book as an inspiration during the inevitable hard times that come to every life. Rather than being stumbling blocks, Miss Hester's many challenges have become building blocks, paving the way to a positive, productive present and future. I would recommend this book for readers of all ages, both for its inspirational qualities and as a valuable model of high-quality children's writing generated by a true young talent.

It is funny, extremely interesting, and makes you want to read more about some of its subjects. The author has a knack for setting up the story so that you, as the reader, will understand the in's and out's of small town life 80 to 100 years ago. Things that we do not give a second thought about, since dogs are now vacinated again rabies, the author details with serious humor. (I'm still laughing about the stampede story.) As I read the book the descriptions of people and places became an image in my mind similar to the school I attended as a child and the people I knew, not the mention the close encounters I also had with snakes.

Take this book on vacation and kick back and enjoy.

YOU WILL LAUGH OUT LOUD!

One of only two books that I have ever read that have made me laugh out loud. The setting is the little town of Clio, Alabama, in the 1930's--hometown of the author and of Alabama Governor George Wallace. The content is a compilation of stories, really "Tall Stories," about real people and real and imagined events. The reader will get a great feel for the small-town South of the period, will learn lessons from the text, but most of all will enjoy the hilarious tales so well portrayed by the author. You will learn how to "tame" both husbands and wives, how not to have a big bulldog attack a little monkey, everything you need to know about "hoop snakes," and many more "useful" things. The book is one that people of all ages will enjoy. I've now read it three times, and still laugh at the stories!

This book is written straight from the heart. Her story will keep you saying......Yes, that's exactly how I feel! She gives you hope when you thought there was none. It's right from her own experiences, not some psychological point of view. She points you right to the source of the only one who can help and that is God! We live in a world that thinks they have all the answers, but there is only one answer....God Himself!
You've tried everything else.....why not try reading this book. It will
change your life!

I am a student in a Counseling Master's program and I had a group presentation to do on evidence-based treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. It has been awhile since I studied this disorder in depth, so I knew there was a lot of literature out there, but where do you start? This book was a lifesaver for me!! My presentation was during finals when I had little time, and certainly not enough time to sift through the gazillions of research studies of Borderline at my university's huge library. This book was clear, concise, and best of all it was actually easy to understand for someone that is not extremely well-versed in all of this (in other words, I am still at the beginning stages of learning the ins and outs of counseling and I still understood what was going on in this book). Also, the book was not a huge text, so I was able to read the majority of it and still get a wealth of info from it for my presentation. The book has charts/tables that go over all the major studies, and if nothing else, points you in the direction of where you should go if you have to find out more specific info (methods, procedures, specific findings of study). This is a great book to learn about the various methods of effective treatment for BPD. Borderline is a very challenging cluster of issues within one's interpersonal relationships, and this book helps to dispell where a therapist should start. Highly recommended if you need an overview of the effective treatment for Borderline!!

This is an excellent review of what has been shown to work and what clearly does not in the treatment of this awful disease. Unlike other books on BP that are aimed at practitioners and are so dense with jargon they are unintelligible, this one is accessible to people without a psych PhD. It should be very useful to families of BP patients in assessing the effectiveness of their loved one's treatment and therapist. I particularly appreciate the author's unequivocal condemnation of psychotropic drugs, which have not been shown to be of significant help for BP patients and often make things worse. I watched the pills wrench my beautiful, talented daughter from an adolescent depression into a manic breakdown and a horrifying descent into BPD, psychosis and personality disintegration. She is now in the earliest stage of recovery, thanks to a hard-nosed therapist (trained in object relations) and large doses of brain-supporting supplements. In fact, my one disappointment with Paris' book is that it doesn't sufficiently address nutritional therapies in recovering from BPD. I assume that good data just does not exist yet. My hope is that someone will be able to correct this glaring omission in the near future. Fish oil, anyone?

Tropical Depression by B.A. Tortuga

Galen and Shane are now almost a family: Shane working as bartender in the club he now owns and Galen trying to find any occasion to distract him and take his man to bed... or in every available place.

But Shane needs something else to be a family, maybe someone to take care of. When Shane starts to be a bit too much involved with an alligator who chose their kiddy pool as new residence, Galen's mother thinks better to give Shane a puppy; Gooper is the new addiction to the family and now Galen has someone else that challenge him for Shane's attention. But Galen can't compete with the puppy, even if they have the same sad brown eyes, and so Galen and the puppy share the time without Shane, trying to cheer each other till night and Shane's return.

Now, don't get me wrong, even if what I described seems a blissful family life, these two are Galen and Shane, the same duo who spent almost all the time in the previous book in bed, and this one is no different: every chapter seems to start with an interesting family scene, but the end is always the same, with Galen and Shane that find one another way to make love... it's almost a marathon, and so I can understand why the puppy tries to steal every free moment of Shane outside the bedroom, since he knows that, one the man is inside that room, he is lost for him.

If you liked the first book and want an easy story, this time without any drama and with two men who seem to have never enough of each other, and a cute puppy to sweet all, this is a nice story.

Life has a way of sneaking up on a person and before you know it there's little time to enjoy simple pleasures, as was the case with Shane and Galen. Working hard and trying to keep their business on track started to cause problems in the home they were building with each other. Lack of time with each other and feelings of jealousy were threatening to tear them apart. Can Galen and Shane find their way back to each other before irreversible damage is done?

Tropical Depression, the sequel to Rain and Whiskey is one sexy story. These guys cannot get enough of each other. I didn't read the prequel to this book, but I had no trouble at all grasping the storyline and getting into Tropical Depression. I would have liked a bit more story to go along with all the sex, but I still found this to be a highly entertaining book. Shane and Galen are great characters and are very much in love with each, but sometimes love isn't enough. Even the strongest relationships can have doubt when you feel you are not spending enough time with the person you love. BA Tortuga fans and readers who love hot man on man sex scenes will very much enjoy Tropical Depression.
